Fr. Mac Scholarship Information

St. Oscar Romero Parish is pleased to announce the opportunity for two deserving registered and active parishioners to receive scholarships this April. Each scholarship, valued at $2,500, aims to enhance the educational journeys of students attending a Roman Catholic high school. These scholarships pay tribute to the inspiring legacy of Fr. Bernard P. McLaughlin, made possible through a fund created in his memory and sustained by the generous contributions of parishioners to the Fr. Mac Scholarship Fund.

Fr. McLaughlin, a dedicated pastor at St. Gerard Parish, passionately advocated for the education of our youth, believing that a Catholic education constitutes a transformative investment in both the Church and society.

We invite applicants to apply online at www.cantoncatholic.org. Applications should include two letters of recommendation, an official grade school transcript, a list of extracurricular activities, and a copy of the acceptance letter from a Catholic high school (for incoming freshmen). All materials should be submitted to the Business Office, addressed to Maggie Rubenacker, no later than Friday, March 14, 2025.

A panel consisting of four members from our parish will evaluate the applications and provide their recommendations to the pastor for approval.

The chosen recipients will be informed by Rev. Thomas Rafferty, by Friday, March 28, 2025.
